And speaking of education…

I learned something new yesterday.  I was in an ethics training presented by someone who works for the state Department of Corrections, and he said that the #1 greatest tool against reoffending was if the person got their GED while in the joint, or if they generally improve their educational foundation.

He said that getting or remaining sober was a low and humble #5.

Were you wondering also about how they came to this rank order? It seems very difficult for any kind of research to present results as plain as what he said. Interesting, sure, but I really wish he would have cited his source.

Book rec: Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Khaneman…kind of a crash course in behavioral economics. I think this has more to say about the lives and minds of SW clientele than do most textbooks.
